Mission Valley 3-on-3 event organizer Steve Woll typically has something special in store for the Mission Valley 3-on-3 basketball tournament as part of Pioneer Days Saturday in Ronan.

This year, Woll, who has organized the event for several years, choose to keep everything the same.

According to Woll, the 3-on-3 tournament, which is part of Ronan Pioneer Days August 2-4 was successful.

“It went alright for our season-finale, and (the tournament) was good,” Woll said. “All of our (Mission Valley teams) played hard, and the referees were excellent, and the tournament had excellent basketball, and everyone had a good time, and it was a great way to end the (summer) basketball season.”

Aside from the typical specialty events such as the slam dunk competition, the three-point contest, and the free-throw shooting contest, the 3-on-3 battle has is known for awarding a $500 scholarship to Tiana Ulutoa for her accomplishments as a member of the Ronan High School girls basketball team.

A local school panel decides the scholarship and the scholarship is presented at the Pioneer Days 3-on-3 tournament in Ronan.
