A few gems, some diamonds in the rough at Mining City

At Butte this past weekend, Polson and Ronan grapplers were among several Class A teams in attendance at the Mining City Duals held at the Civic Center. The tournament was structured into multiple pools during first day action with the top teams advancing to champion pool competition and the bottom half competing against each other in consolation duals.

Frenchtown was the only Class A program to advance to the champion pool.

Ronan coach Dylan Kramer commented that the MC Duals “are tough but fun.” Chief wrestlers “gained some very valuable experience ... which will hopefully help us finish strong.... James (Kenelty), Caleb (Cheff), and Jon (Matt) did an awesome job of being leaders and giving it their all against some tough competition.”

Polson coach Matt Owen pointed out that “team scores do not reflect the effort being put out on the mat. We are dealing with ... wrestlers out of the line-up right now, but once we get everybody back we are going to be very competitive.”

A handful of Polson wrestlers will compete at Tri-State at North Idaho College in Couer d’Alene, while Ronan grapplers are slated to attend the CMR Classic in Great Falls this weekend. Others will compete at the Buzz Lucey Invitational in Eureka this weekend.
