Mission/Charlo qualifies nine for state; Arlee sending five
Mission/Charlo enjoyed a good day at the Western B-C Divisional wrestling tournament last Saturday at Thompson Falls High School as the Bulldogs qualified nine grapplers for the State Wrestling Tournament this Friday and Saturday at Rimrock Auto Arena in Billings.
The top four wrestlers in all weight classes advanced to state.
Teamwise, Mission/Charlo finished in third place, behind now five-time divisional champion Eureka and runner-up Florence-Carlton. Superior-Alberton (Clark Fork) was fourth, Plains/Hot Springs fifth, Thompson Falls sixth, Arlee seventh and Bigfork eighth.
Mission/Charlo had two divisional champions — Isaac DuMontier at 152 pounds and Isaiah Alik at 170.
DuMontier won his title by pinning Eureka’s Nate Cargill in 1:07. Alik also won by fall, pinning Eureka’s James Fuhr in 3:01.
Mission/Charlo’s other state qualifiers include Darwin Adams, who was second at 145 pounds; and Miles Anderson, second, 205; Cole Gilleard, third, 132;, Troy Matt, third, 170; Walker Murphy, fourth, 120; Kody Dillard, fourth, 103; and Ethan Diaz, fourth, 160,
Arlee qualified five for state. The Warrior qualifiers included Colt Crawford, second at 138 pounds; Tyrel Thomas, third, 103; Skyler Titsworth, third, 152; RJ Knoll, fourth, 126; and James Crazyboy, fourth, 205,
Plains/Hot Springs qualified five for state, including champion Josiah Vanderwall at 138 pounds. The Savage Horsemen’s other qualifiers were Taylor Angle, second, 103; Conrad Vanderwall, second, 132; Peter Carey, third, 120; and Steven Yother, third, 285.
Thompson Falls/Noxon had one champion, uncontested 113-pounder Trae Thilmony, and placed four for state. The other Blue Hawk state qualifiers finished second at the divisional. They were Roman Sparks, 120; Shane Reishus, 126; and Dakota Irvine, 182.
Eureka had 13 wrestlers at the divisional and qualified 10 for state. The Lions won state in 2017 and finished second last year.
