Musicians, vocal and instrumental, thespians, comedians and dancers have two more weeks to register for the Mission Valley Has Talent 2019 competition, as the Feb. 15 deadline has been extended. The talent show is scheduled for Friday, March 15 at the Polson High School Auditorium. Registration deadline is now March 1.

Contestants between the ages of 5 and 95 can compete within the following categories: 5-12, 13-17 and 18-95. Cash prizes will be awarded in each category; first place winners will receive $250, second place wins $150, and third place $100.

The quickest way to sign up and pay registration fees is at the www.missionvalleyhastalent.org website. Registration forms can also be downloaded, completed and mailed with fee to Helping Hands Fund, P.O. 1094, Polson, MT 59860. All forms and fees must be received in the HHF office by March 1. Questions can be directed to Helping Hands Fund office, 883-8256.

MVHT is a fundraiser for the Helping Hands Fund (HHF). The first event, held in 2018, raised more than $6,000 for the fund, a non-profit ministry supported by the Mission Valley Ministerial Association. The fund administrator says, “We try to make sure that our babies, children, elderly, disabled and generally the neediest of needy are being served.”

HHF works with people seeking basic needs such as food, gas and personal care items. The program is growing. Two of the most recents additions include the Baby Box Project, which provides a safe sleep space for every infant born in the county, and the Backpack Project, which — in conjunction with the local Polson Police Department — provides items for children displaced in drug raids.
