Martillis 'Mart' Maarstad

| January 10, 2019 12:27 PM

Martillis “Mart” Llewellyn Maarstad, 79, of Ronan, passed away on Dec. 31, 2018. Mart was born on Sept. 26, 1939 to Martinus Henrik and Lydia Sophie (Strand). A 1957 Ronan High School graduate, Mart joined the army reserves and graduated from Montana State University with an Automotive Design Engineering degree.

Mart, an avid car enthusiast, was led to California where he worked at the L.A. International Speedway. After living life in the fast lane he realized home is where his heart was and he returned to the Mission Valley. Mart was actively involved in his community and developed a large network of friends in various jobs, groups and events. Ronan Sports Cycles and Lake County Council on Aging, Mission Valley Cruisers and the Lutherans (not just because of the soup and suppers) were greatly blessed by his service. Mart was very proud of his 32-plus years of sobriety and carried the message even up until his final days serving as a beacon of hope for others to find their way out of the darkness of addiction. Mart was preceded in death by his parents. A service and luncheon will be held at Faith Lutheran Church on Jan. 12, 2019 at 11 a.m. on 406 Fifth Street, Ronan.
