Following a joint investigation with local agencies, the Ronan Police Department announced last week that a man suspected of selling drugs was taken into custody in December.

At 11 p.m. on Dec. 20, 2018, RPD officer and K-9 handler Brandon Smith conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Mose Moulton, 40, of Butte.

Smith and Tribal Police were investigating an individual that was suspected of selling methamphetamine in the Ronan Area, a press release from RPD stated.

Ronan K-9 Sandor was deployed, alerting to 1/2 ounce of meth and $1,000 in cash, which was seized.

Moulton was out of custody on parole and in the area without authorization, RPD confirmed. He was arrested on a probation violation and on a charge of possession of dangerous drugs with intent to distribute, and was transported to the Lake County Detention Center.

Information obtained during the traffic stop led to tribal officers stopping another vehicle in Pablo. K-9 Sandor positively alerted to drugs, and about 3 grams of meth was located in the vehcile, and about $1,000 in cash were seized.

More information on the second suspect was not available at press time Tuesday.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Lake County Dispatch assisted RPD and tribal officers during the investigation.
