Chiefs split with 'Dogs, Broncs
At Frenchtown, the Ronan Chiefs played relatively shoulder-to-shoulder with their opponent through the first quarter, but the Broncs galloped off for over 50 points through the middle frames to decide the outcome. The contest was a rematch of an early season Tip-Off encounter in which Frenchtown had narrowly eeked out a 57-52 victory.
Ronan rebounded with a 71-61 overtime win over Mission on Saturday
Anthony Camel led all scorers with 20 points against Frenchtown, while Randy Finley turned in a decade double-double with 10 boards and 10 points.
At St. Ignatius in a cross-classification county classic, visiting Ronan and host Mission battled to the brink, extending their contest into overtime. But the Bulldogs succumbed to an untimely scoring drought during the extra period, while Ronan notched double figures to win this wild one.
The game featured seven players total who notched double digits, led by Wacey McClure with 18, followed by Bulldog Flint McPherson and Chief Anthony Camel delving into the high teens as well. Bulldog Matt Anderson led all rebounders with ten boards.
Ronan will host a pair of doubleheaders this weekend. The Chiefs play Libby on Friday, Jan. 18, then Browning on Saturday, Jan. 19. The Sentinel boys’ game that was originally slated for this Tuesday has been rescheduled for next Saturday, Jan. 26, in Missoula.
