Jackets, Loggers topple Lady Pirates

At Stevensville last Friday, the visiting Polson Lady Pirates climbed another rung on the scoring ladder by tallying their highest half scoring segment as well as their highest overall point total thus far this season. Mossy Kauley had her first varsity career dabble among double digits, while Karly Lawson and Sharmaine Zempel were within a basket of netting double figures as well.

At Joe McDonald Health & Wellness Center (SKC gym) in Pablo the following night, the Lady Pirates slipped a few rungs back to tie their lowest point tally of the season. With the exception of Sharmaine Zempel, the remainder of the roster would have had an easier time buying a vowel on the Wheel of Fortune than they could coax the ball to fall through the net of the basket despite taking several decent shots.

One might contrast the different levels of intensity exhibited by the Lady Pirates against the two opponents with an analogy drawn between that of an untamed tiger and a more docile domestic cat. Mice might have to worry about both, but larger prey only have one to keep a wary eye open. Coach Juan Perez and his staff will endeavor to instill more tiger into the Lady Pirate demeanor in the coming weeks — much like back in the day Exxon petrol commercials about putting a tiger in your tank.

Polson will host the visiting Kalispell Glacier Lady Wolfpack on Thursday, Jan. 17, then travel to Whitefish on Friday, Jan. 18.
