Support for Mission Valley Has Talent 2019 and Helping Hands Fund is strong. For the

second year, a responsive audience created an exciting atmosphere for entertainers as well

as event volunteers and organizers. Last Friday, Robert Parot, Native American Hoop Dancer

and last year’s winner, opened the talent show followed by 15 acts including vocalists,

instrumentalists and “Feats of Strength.”

More than 450 county residents cheered on their family, neighbors and friends during the

competition. After expenses are covered the talent show will raise $4500 to support the

Helping Hands Fund, a non-profit ministry of the Mission Valley Ministerial Association.

Gratitude can be spread generously throughout the valley. We start with a thank you to the

hard-working Helping Hands Fundraising Committee, then move to businesses and

sponsors, organizations and individuals that made this talent show possible. *Twenty-six

generous sponsors donated to help with event expenses.*Twenty four contestants

auditioned to be one of the 15 finalists. * Thirteen judges gave time and expertise.

*Volunteers gave time for two auditions, a rehearsal and finals. *Stage Manager Steve

Pickel and M.C. Brian Miskimins, of Anderson Broadcasting, created a smooth show. *Jordan

Albert, guest artist and a local musician, entertained while the judges tabulated.

Since 2004 HHF has provided emergency assistance to county residents. Newer programs

include creation and distribution of Baby Boxes to all new babies in the county; working with

schools, counselors and students through a holiday giving program as well as the food

pantry and thrift stores, and the Salvation Army. HHF volunteers collect items to fill

backpacks that are used by local law enforcement to comfort children who are separated

from familiar surroundings.

Our wrap-up discussion will consider two years of experience and input from contestants,

judges and audience members. Stay tuned for news about the next Mission Valley Has

Talent contest
