SHERRY WINN was the keynote speaker during Polson High School Career Connection Day on Monday, April 29. She is known as America’s Mental Push-up Coach. She has shared more than 2,000 hours of Winning Wisdom with audience members. Winn is a two-time Olympian and national championship coach.

Monday, April 29 was in impactful day for Polson High School students, especially the seniors who will walk across the state and accept their diplomas just six weeks from now.

The second annual PHS Career Connection Day featured a wide array of guest presenters, including keynote speaker Sherry Winn, and concluded with a career fair and “senior signing event.” That was when PHS seniors accepted academic scholarships to assist them financially during their first year of college.

Winn provided an early highlight for the day. Beginning at 9 a.m., she got the students’ blood pumping as she shared some of her “winning wisdom” with them.

Known as America’s Mental Push-up Coach, Winn is one of the nation’s foremost speakers on winning — in life, love and leadership. She has shared more than 2,000 hours of her wisdom with audience members. Her clients include such diverse organizations as StubHub, Technicolor, Edward Jones and Volunteers of America.

Winn is a two-time Olympian, competing for Team USA in women’s team handball, and she is a national championship coach. She is also an Amazon Best Seller, having written six books including “Unleash the Winner Within You: A Success Game Plan for Business, Leadership, and Life.”

Winn touched on many areas of what a person experiences during their lifetime. She said is it important to “learn and grow all the time. If you don’t grow, you’ll experience things over and over again.” And they won’t all be positive.

She shared the Rule of 80/20. That’s the fact that 20 percent of people get 80 percent of the positive results. “Understand the principle and it will save your life!” Winn said.

She said to identify “I am” as your power words. “When you believe the words you realize the ‘power’ in those words.”

Winn concluded with the “Q-tip” philosophy. “Quit Taking It Personally!” Having “positive controllable thoughts” is a key to success in life, love and leadership.
