Charlo excels in the Class 13-14 C District Meet

The Charlo Vikings and Arlee Warriors track teams were well-represented at Class 13, 14-C District track meet Saturday afternoon at MCPS Stadium in Missoula.

Stringer, Vaughan dominate 100

Arlee High School runner Garrett Stringer finished third in the 100-meter run recording a time of 12.13. Charlo High School runner Garett Vaughan finished fifth with a time of 12.36, and Charlo’s Isaiah Allik set a personal record, finishing sixth, with a time of 12.41.

The Warriors’ Jason Miller finished third setting a personal record with a time of 25.88 seconds in the 200-meter run.

Degrandpe excels in 400

Charlo’s Wills Degrandpre continues to build upon his momentum setting a personal record in the 400-meter run with a time of 57.58 for a sixth place finish.

Degrandpre also captured first in the 800 with another personal record. Degrandpre finished the 800 with a time of 2:08.35. His teammate Coyle Nagy also set a personal record with a time of 2:13.57 seconds to capture second, and Nick Daugherty set a personal record with a time of 2:15.92.

Degrandpre finished first in the 1,600, and 3,200. Degrande recorded a time of 4:47.90 in the 1600, and Daugherty, who finished second, recorded a personal record time of 5:11.34.

Coyle Nagy finished third with a time of 5:11.96, a personal record. Sage Nicolai, from Arlee, finished fourth with a time of 5:17.40.

In the 3,200, Degrandpre finished in first with a time of 11:25.29 seconds. Arlee’s Nicolai finished with a time of 11:59.83to finish second. Nagy again set another personal record with a recorded time of 12:04.46 for third place.

Charlo’s George Ranney set a personal record with a time of 14:40.20 for sixth place.

Smith dominates hurdles

Landers Smith from Charlo is looking more and more like he is ready for his next step of college football, and he is showcasing that with his athleticism.

Smith captured first place, recording a time of 16.07 in the 110-meter hurdles, and a personal record with a time of 41.74 the 300-meter hurdles. The Vikings football standout, who is signed to play football for Montana Tech University in Butte, is one of the fastest players in the area, and he just keeps proving it.

Smith’s teammates, Garett Vaughan, finished fourth in the 110 hurdles with a time of 17.32 and set a personal record in the 300 hurdles with a time of 43.21 for third place.

Vikings, Warriors excel in relays

The Vikings 4X100 relay team consisting of Garett Vaughan, Isaiah Allik, Landers Smith and Braydon Zempel finished first recording a time of 46.27.

The Arlee 4X100 team consisting Noah Coulson, Eduardo Santiago, Jason Miller and Garrett Stringer finished with a time of 1:03.17.

The Warriors 4X400 relay team that consisted of Zempel, Allik, Degrandpre and Nick Daugherty, finished with a time of 4:01.97 in second place.

Fullerton, Coulson finish strong

Arlee thrower Levi Fullerton set a personal record in the discus with a throw of 97-07 to finish in fifth place.

Fullerton finished third in the javelin, setting a personal record throw of 143-02.50. Nick Daugherty finished fourth with a distance of 128-05.

In the high jump, Stringer placed second with a height of 5-04.00 and Darien Liberty from Charlo, tied with Stringer for second place with a height 5-04.00 also.

Smith captures pole vault

Charlo High School’s Landers Smith captured first place in the pole vault event clearing a height of 12-0.00.

Smith’s teammate Garett Vaughan was the nearest competitor to Smith with a height of 9-06.00, finishing second.

Arlee’s Garrett Stringer set a personal record with a height of 8-06.00 for fourth place, and Rj Knoll finished with fifth, recording a height of 8-06.00.

Arlee High School’s Garrett Stringer also set a personal record in the long jump, recording a cumulative distance of 20-04.00. Smith, of Charlo, finished third with a personal record of 19-0900.

Liberty, Miller capture top-five in the triple jump

Charlo’s senior Darien Liberty finished fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 37-05.25.

Arlee’s Jason Miller finished fifth with a distance of 36-03.50, and Braydon Zemple of Charlo finished sixth clearing 36-02.00.
