Polson High School competitors peaking at the right time

Polson High School and Ronan High School have competitors both on the cusp of trying to reach their peak prior to the Montana High School Association Class A track meet May 24-25 in Laurel.

The Pirates and Chiefs both have runners, throwers, distance runners and jumpers who aim to peak at Divisionals and state. The Nelson-Thomas ABC Invitational Saturday afternoon allowed the athletes with state and divisional aspirations yet another opportunity prior to the main events forthcoming, and the Pirates and Chiefs both took advantage of the opportunity.

Goode captures first in the 400

Polson High School athlete Boston Goode continues to showcase his athletic versatility capturing first in the 400-meter.

Goode finished first with a time of 52.92, and his Pirate teammate Ethan McCauley finished fourth recording a time of 53.37, which set a new personal record.

Normandeau excels in the 800

Ronan High School competitor James Normandeau is another distance competitor that has become not only one of the elite competitors in the Mission Valley but also the state. Normandeau continued to showcase that in the ABC with a fourth-place finish in the 800, recording a time of 2:08.00.

Normandeau, who finished second, recorded a personal record of 4:32.77 in the 1,600.

Pirates relay team shines at ABC

The Polson Pirates are traditionally known for their speed, and at the ABC Invite, the 4X100, and the 4X400 relay teams showcased their ability. A team consisting of Dugan Davis, Alex Wall-Wilbert, Ryker Wenderoth, and Parker team finished fifth in the 4X100 relay, recording a time of 44.91.

The Pirates 4X400 relay team, which consists of Ethan McCauley, Quin Stewart, Wall-Wilbert and Goode, placed fifth recording a time of 3:41.64.

Ronan’s Landon Lynch finished in the top-four setting a personal record by launching a discuss the distance of 132-02 to finish in fourth place.

Perez sets PRs in jav

Polson javelin thrower Jonathan Perez finished fourth setting a personal record in the javelin recording 146-04.

Kimmel places fifth in the high jump

Polson’s Abel Kimmel placed fifth in the high jump recording a height of 5-04.00.

Soderquist, Farrier finish in the top five in the pole vault

Polson had two of their competitors place in the top-5 in the pole vault event.

Colby Soderquist and Jarod Farrier finished fourth, and fifth both recording the height of 12-06.00.

Wenderoth, Luper PR in the long jump

Polson jumper Ryker Wenderoth set a personal record in the long jump recording a distance of 19-11.25 finishing fourth, and Austin Luper set a personal record finishing fifth of distance of 19-08.00.
