Brander sisters finish their season on the podium at state
Mission High School has become accustomed to seeing both Afton and Sydney Brander excel in just about every sport they participated in.
The Brander sisters’ athleticism has propelled the Mission High School girls basketball team into one of the dominant forces in the Montana High School Class B state tournament.
At state, Sydney was able to out-do her sister in the triple jump competition.
Sydney finished in fourth place with a distance of 34-06.50, and Afton finished fifth with jumps totaling 34-03.00.
Afton Brander cleared a height of 4-10.00 in the Class B high jump to capture sixth place. In the long jump, Afton finished in seventh with a distance of 16-02.50 and Sydney finished in eleventh place with a distance of 15-06.50.
The Mission Bulldogs team has progressed signficantly in the last two seasons under coach Tyler Murray.
The Bulldogs continue to have strong numbers of players qualifying for the Montana High School Class B state events year after year, and hope to continue that in 2020.
