A felony charge of partner/family member assault was dismissed against Effrem Demonds Davis.

Davis has been in custody since March and has pleaded guilty to resisting arrest. Prosecutor Molly Owen stated that after going through evidence to prepare for trial, she felt the defendant could make a strong self-defense case in his defense and should be released.

District Judge Deborah Kim Christopher expressed concern that Davis had served 234 days.

“I hate cases where we bail out at the last minute on issues we knew all along,” Christopher said.

Davis was ordered released and is to attend 40 hours of anti-battering training and pay court and public defender fees.

- Kaci Ann Ducharme pleaded guilty to felony possession of dangerous drugs (meth). Sentencing is set for Dec. 19.

- Jasmine Lise Williams entered a not guilty plea to felony possession of dangerous drugs (heroin).

An omnibus hearing is scheduled for Feb. 20, 2019, with a jury trial to follow on March 30. In the meantime, Williams is to be evaluated for chemical dependency.

- A warrant was issued for the arrest of Jay Calvin Smith who did not appear for a scheduled sentencing and restitution hearing related to charges of theft, possession of dangerous drugs, criminal endangerment, and criminal mischief.

- Francis Lee Henry entered a change of plea to guilty related to charges of a felony fourth or subsequent DUI with alcohol blood level .242 and criminal endangerment. Sentencing is set for Dec. 19.

- In a hearing to answer a petition to revoke probation for Brandon Elijah McGinniss related to a charge of partner/family member strangulation, Public Defender Sterling Laudon explained his client had moved to Ohio and was registering there for his required anti-battering program.
