The Lady Pirates volleyball program, under head coach Lizzy Cox, successfully negotiated the perils of postseason play to advance to the State A stage in eight seasons after a four-year run from 2011-08.

Conferred with all-state status is junior outside hitter Maggie Todd. One performance entailed a career-high 24 kills on the road as part of a week that yielded 53 spikes over the course of three matches.

Receiving second team acknowledgement is senior middle Misty Tenas.

The Lady Pirates reaped a quartet of honorable mentions in senior setter Lena Pawlowski, junior libero/defensive specialist Ara Mercer, junior setter Berkley Ellis and senior outside hitter Grace Quinones.

Pawlowski was primary table setter for the team, but was also a seasonal triple-double century club contributor in both kills and digs with 100 or more in each category.

Mercer anchored the defense, tallying nearly 500 digs.

Ellis functioned as a secondary setter, but was third leading defensive player with 22 dozen digs while serving more than 24 service aces.

Quinones was the second-leading blocker, third-leading spiker and fourth in service aces with 36, contributing more than 200 cumulative points to the season tally.

The 2019 rendition of the Lady Pirates finished second in Northwest A conference play while taking fourth at the Western A Divisional.

Postseason experience not only whets the appetite for a return visit, but likewise elevates awareness of the caliber of play required to compete at the next level.

Polson graduates a trio of seniors in Grace Quinones, Lena Pawlowski and Misty Tenas.
