At Charlo this past weekend, the visiting Plains Trotters sought to blemish the pristine record of the host Lady Vikings. The match was knotted at one apiece entering the third set, which Charlo secured for a 2-1 advantage.

But the Trotters almost extended the match to a fifth set when they dragged out the fourth into extras before Charlo was able to edge ahead. Liev Smith and Carlee Fryberger collaborated on more than two dozen kills, while Bella Hawk served a quintet of aces.

This past week, it rained Cats and Dogs upon the Maidens as they traveled on the road to face Columbia Falls, then Whitefish. Like all who have faced the felines this season, the WildKats prevailed to maintain their undefeated streak.

At Whitefish, the Maidens had a much better showing as they captured the second set to knot the match at 1-1. The third set was played into the 20s with Whitefish gaining the edge by taking the third set. Madeline McCrea spiked 11 kills, while LaReina Cordova dished a trio of service aces. The loss was impacted by a high number of fundamental faux pas which negated the positives generated by the offense.

The Maidens host Stevensville Thursday, then travel for round two of the cross-county Rez rivalry wrangle at Polson Saturday.
