Mission, Charlo score gridiron football triumphs
At Seeley-Swan in a rescheduled match moved to Saturday, the visiting Bulldogs and the host Blackhawks were knotted at a touchdown apiece entering intermission. In the second half, Kolten Gardipee snared his second TD reception of the game, Troy Matt rushed for two tallies and Layne Spidel added some icing to the cake by tackling Owen Mercado in the end zone for a safety.
Head coach Tyler Murray complemented the second half effort.
“Our kids kept fighting throughout the entire game even after a sloppy first half. They have bought into our motto that “Bulldogs Always Fight” and it shows. They play hard and fast on defense and special teams, but we need to clean up our execution on offense.”
The Bulldogs will host the Ennis Mustangs Friday. Ennis won the Western C 8-man 2016 title game against Charlo and has been part of the playoff picture the past pair of seasons.

Vikings
scuttle Pirates
At Charlo, the host Vikings applied a balanced offensive attack to sink the visiting Victor Pirates. Charlo used four rushing touchdowns and another quartet from the air as they dictated the tempo of the game. Isaiah Allik rushed for two scores, while Bridger Foust and Wrangler Gaustad ran in one apiece from double digit distance.
A quartet of different receivers caught passes in the end zone as Roper Edwards, Braydon Zempel, Tucker Love and Keaton Piedalue each tallied. Allik led the team in both tackles as well as tackles for loss.
The Vikings tangle with the Clark Fork Mountain Cats in Alberton-Superior coop territory this Friday.

Warriors tangled
carving more TDs into the scoreboard than they were able to counter. Arlee tallied in every quarter, even matching Darby stride for stride during the second half. Quarterback Cody Tanner ran for two tallies, while Colt Crawford reeled in a long pass reception as well as rushed for a short yardage plunge, both sixes. Jace Samsel caught a conversion pass to account for the bonus points.
The Warriors have been operating without the full complement of their roster, either on account of injuries or other matters limiting availability. The team should be closer to firing on all cylinders with more players available for action.
Warrior head coach Chuck Forgey commented, “The boys played hard, but we didn’t make enough plays ... We’ll get after it this week and try to get a win.” Arlee faces Flint Creek there.
