Dillon rolls past Ronan, 48-12
At Ronan this past Thursday in a game rescheduled to accomodate a shortage of referees for Friday night contests in the area, the Chiefs would endure some bouncing by beastly Beaver boys.
Bulk and height differentials created some matchup difficulties would be reflected by the scoring disparity. But Ronan was able to showcase some of their strengths when Eric Dolence found Matt Victor down the visitor side of the field for a 69-yard reception for six.
Trailing in the latter stages of the first frame, Ronan put together a string of first downs as they knocked on the door of the Dillon redzone. After an eight yard loss from a sack, Bruin Largent made up the difference and then some to the 32-yard line.
Dillon defenders would force Dolence out of the pocket. Scrambling to evade tacklers, a throw was made into the end zone to an awaiting Kolby Reum, but it would be picked off just outside of the plane of the goal line.
Midway through the third quarter, Ronan put together another drive in which they strung together multiple first downs, but an untimely fumble would stall the drive at the 25 yard line.
Kolby Reum would culminate Ronan scoring with a 25-yard reception in the right back corner of the end zone off a flea flicker from Dolence to Daniel Kelsch.
Other highlights included a fumble recovery by Jayden Rodda of an attempted Dillon punt return.
Ronan bid farewell to seniors Dolence, Reum, Victor, Landon Lynch and Garrett Bartel.
The Chiefs close out the season at Corvallis.
