Polson needs to support school bond, jail funding

I am writing this letter to all of Polson.

We are facing two major pieces of legislation that will impact our community for many, many years to come. We are all blessed to live in this beautiful community. We, like every other community in this country, do have our problems. What sets us apart is the way we care for our families and each other. I have lived in several different parts of this great country, and I assure you, Polson Montana is VERY special!

We have an opportunity to keep it special. We need to help our children in two ways:

1. Pass the school bond election. This is not for a bunch of unnecessary extras. This is to help our dedicated (and under paid) teachers who work so hard for all the kids in our schools. If you take the time to read the issues or attend a school board meeting where you may ask any question you might have, you will see how little they are asking for. How do we put a price tag on our children’s future? In this crazy world, we all realize our kids are our future. They will all succeed if they have the opportunity to learn what they undoubtedly need to not just survive, but to thrive as adults. The children, teachers, aides and administrators and every person who works for us in our schools all deserve our support!

2. We need to help pass the other important piece of legislation to increase the size of our Lake County Jail. We all know this also is not frivolous. We have a dedicated law enforcement team who care about our town and valley. They too, deserve our support.

Please get out and vote for these very important pieces of legislation. Your vote does county. Your voice does matter.

Let us all come together to show how important our children and educators and law enforcement mean to us.

Good schools help us make our children feel they matter to the entire community as well as the world they will face as adults. A jail will help our law enforcement keep our community safer. We can’t choose one or the other. Both should matter to all of us.

The return on our relatively small investment will be measured by the success and safety of our children,
