Polson Rural firefighter get new truck

The Polson Rural firefighters will receive some help in their initiative moving forward to combat fires.
The Polson Rural firefighters were presented with a $10,000 check toward the purchase of the new tender, which should enhance their ability to protect the community.
The money to get new equipment and a new fire truck came from state money instead of coming out of the rural fire District’s tax levy.
The state of the art fire truck should allow Polson Rural Firefighters to combat blazes more efficiently.
The new truck has been driven less than 800 miles.
The Polson Rural Fire Department, which respond to a total of over 200 calls per year, covers a district of nearly 200 square miles, according to a press release.
“In this business, time is of the essence,” Polson Rural Fire chief Gordon Gieser said. “The quicker we can respond to an incident, the less destruction is incurred.
Recently, Polson Rural Fire Membership has provided nearly $50,000 for several items in the district, including portable radios, first aid equipment, a thermal imager, emergency lights, a demolition saw and a gas detector.
The Polson Rural Fire Membership consists of volunteers in the Polson Rural Fire District. The 501 organization raises money through various activities to support the district.
