This past week, area prep cross-country runners competed at two different venues. Polson, Ronan and Mission matches strides in Ronan, while Class B schools Arlee along with Mission and 14C Charlo as well as Two Eagle River competed in Missoula the day prior on Thursday.

At the Ronan Canal Bank Run, Ronan’s James Normandeau took top honors with a sub-17 in the boys race, while Mason Sloan of Polson was a dozen seconds back with a sub-17 of his own for third. Other top 10 finishers included Brant Heiner of Ronan coming in sixth with a sub-18, Isaiah Nasewytewa of Mission along with Ronan’s Michael Irvine and Zarec Couture with sub-19s.

Top-10 finishers in the girls race were Polson freshman Karli Owens taking second, Mission’s Karolyna Buck coming in fourth, Polson senior Gwen Seeley placing seventh, while fellow Lady Pirate freshman Ashtyn Wagner and junior River Shoemake took the ninth and 10th spots.
