Kelly medals on Polson Bay, Lady Pirate golfers take third
At Hamilton this past weekend, both Polson and Ronan golf teams competed on last year’s state tournament course in a final tuneup before the postseason begins. The Lady Pirate girls place a trio among the top 10 with Ellie Thiel leading the way with a sub-90 for a third place finish that coincided with their team score.
Ronan Maiden Macao Jackson turned in a sub-100 for 16th place, one stroke back from making the top 15. Both Polson and Ronan boys teams were shorthanded with less than their full contingent.
At Kalispell midweek last week, Polson’s Trey Kelley distinguished himself amidst a large contingent of AA golfers by placing third at the two-day Kalispell Invitational held on two courses. Kelley was only one stroke back from the leader after the first day. The Lady Pirate girls put a trio among the top fifteen finishers.
At Polson early last week, the Pirate golfers hosted the Polson Invitational. On the boys side, Trey Kelley captured medalist honors on his backyard course with an impressive 72. Polson’s Michael Smith, Sam Fisher, Noah Shriver and Ronan’s Dillon PrettyOnTop all turned in sub-100 scores. Ellie Thiel and Cali Cannon tied for fourth on the girls side to pace the Lady Pirate third place team finish. Kylee Niemeyer of Ronan made the top fifteen by hitting the century mark.
Both Polson and Ronan teams will compete in the Western Divisional in Frenchtown this final weekend of September.
