Donations sought for Lake County Community Support
Lake County Community Support is seeking donations of non-perishable foods, monetary donations and home essentials (hygiene, personal care, pet care) for all age groups as it works to create free “hand up” boxes for those in need.
“We at LCCS are well aware of the current crisis in our world and we are working day and night to provide as much help to our community as we possibly can!” said Shayna Cullinan.
She explained the group’s in the county is to provide the basic necessities to those that are less fortunate.
“We strive to help the elderly, homeless, and anyone else that may be down on there luck,” Cullinan said. “Especially in this time of crisis. In three weeks, as of March 29, we have given out roughly 20 boxes filled with food and hygiene care to those that had little to no food in their cupboards.”
Cullinan said there are currently five main people working in the Facebook Group.
“We all help gather items and deliver them with no monetary benefit. We have seen our Facebook Group grow to over 300 people in the short time of three weeks,” Cullinan said. “We have had a lot of people donate all sorts of items to our cause through this group. All of us at LCCS donate our own fuel, time, and money toward this cause that we so strongly believe in and it is our hope that you to will help donate your time and resources as we have done.”
Cullinan said the group is not currently a legal nonprofit organization, but is in the process of becoming one.
She said for those who want to donate, she would provide a list of its needs.
“With our current crisis while the needs are very basic, the numbers are growing quickly as being a disabled due to low vision myself, while I have donated a lot in personal funds, I am definitely not able to purchase all of the items myself to keep these boxes full and able to be handed out, that is exactly why we are seeking donations,” Cullinan said.
She said items are preferred but the group also welcomes cash donations which are used to buy needed items for the boxes.
