Physical therapist returns ‘home’ with purchase of Mission Valley practice
A 2006 Polson High School graduate has returned home, ready to help heal the people of her hometown.
Lindsy Campbell recently purchased Mission Valley Physical Therapy from longtime family friend and fellow therapist Shannon Nunlist. Born and raised in Polson, Campbell worked in Alaska and California after her schooling. She says she had just started to think she’d like to “come home” when Shannon decided she was ready to retire and sell the practice. Campbell began working with Nunlist in January, and was able to provide uninterrupted service for Mission Valley clients when the purchase was final in February.
Campbell earned a bachelor’s in exercise science from University of Montana in 2011, and a doctorate of physical therapy from University of Washington in 2015. She went on to gain specialized training and experience in physical therapy treatment for disorders of the spine, chronic pain, and women’s health issues including pelvic floor physical therapy. Spinal treatment includes manual manipulation, “using the least amount of force necessary to get the desired outcome,” she said. When she found out that no one in the Polson area offered pre-employment screenings and functional evaluations, Campbell got into a class for that “right away.” She now offers that service as well.
With the onset of the coronavirus threat, Campbell found a silver lining. “Telehealth” visits over video media have become very helpful for patients during this time. Campbell said she may keep that practice going in the long-term, as it allows access to care without the long drive for weekly appointments.
“I really hope we don’t cut back on human interaction,” in response to the virus, Campbell said. “But telehealth allows us to find some benefit to help someone get more visits more easily.”
