| August 14, 2020 10:30 AM

Last week Polson Beautification Committee judges, Mary Jensen, Jane Larson and Lois Abell, toured nominated gardens and yards to pick this year’s winners of the Polson in Bloom competition. There were over 25 nominations for the business and private residences catagories.

Business Winners:

1st Place: HaeOk Newman, Owner of Oaks Korean Kitchen on Highway 93 next to Glacier Bank.

2nd Place: Jaye McDonald, Owner of Bella Vita Salon at 205 4th Avenue East across from Linderman Elementary School.

3rd Place: Marcia Moen, Owner of Richwine’s Burgerville, 50567 Highway 93

If you have an opportunity, let these businesses know you appreciate their efforts to make Polson beautiful.

Private Residence Winners:

1st Place: Lyn Opalka, 308 8th Street East

2nd Place: Cindi and Frank Jobe, 102 5th Avenue West

3rd Place: Patricia and John Kelly, 85 Miriam Way

Take a drive by the homes of these winners and enjoy their colorful yards and gardens.

The Judges’ Choice Winner(s) are all the volunteers who maintain corners on Main Street in Polson, the plantings at the intersection of Highway 93 and Montana 35, the flowerbeds at the John Dowdell Playhouse home of the Port Polson Players, the triangular flowerbed along Highway 93 at the east side of Ducharme Park and those who donate money for hanging baskets around downtown Polson. These volunteers donate many hours of their time which we appreciate. We, especially, would like to recognize the donated time from Delaney’s Nursery

The Beautification Committee wishes to recognize Kathy and Kerry Shore of South Shore Nursery for their many years of beautiful gardens. Kathy has retired and closed the business. We wish her many years being able to spend time in her own yard.

The Beautification Committee thanks everyone who spends time in their yards and their business exteriors to make our hometown a prettier place to live.
