Community notes: Drive-through nativity at Mission Valley Christian Academy

The Mission Valley Christian Academy, 38907 Montana Highway 35 in Polson, will present a live, drive-through nativity from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17. A new show will begin every 30 minutes as the cast is rotated to ensure social distancing.

Winter wonderland food drive

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is hosting its ninth annual Polson Food, Coats for Kids and Homeless Gear Drive from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17 in the parking lot at Polson High School. Volunteers will create a “winter wonderland,” where the community can come see Santa, get pictures and drop off donations.

Caravan of Lights

This year’s Caravan of Lights in Ronan begins at 6 p.m. Friday with a new format.

Attendees are free to watch the caravan anywhere on the route (available at www.facebook.com/RonanChamber), but safety is a priority and masks and physical distancing are strongly recommended. Households are encouraged to watch from their cars to encourage distancing as well. There will be no large trailers this year, and candy will not be thrown.

Jam session

There will be a jam session open to all musicians/singers from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at The Lake Bar in Polson. Musicians must bring their own equipment. Spectators are welcome, and everyone is encouraged to wear Christmas colors.

Christmas dinner in Dixon

Dixon Senior Center’s Christmas dinner celebration starts at 5:30 p.m. Monday, and the doors will be open for on-site dining. Social distancing precautions will be in place. The center also is accepting takeout meal requests on Monday only next week and will be closed Thursday for the holiday. Meals cost $4 per serving and will be delivered to Dixon residents upon request.

Polson food pantry closed on holidays

The Polson Loaves and Fish food pantry, 904 First St. East, will be closed on both Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
