Pirates basketball sweeps Libby, Bigfork

The Polson Pirates continued their strong play last week with wins over Libby and Bigfork.

The Pirates trailed the majority of the second half, including by nine points, 34-25, at one point.

Polson then used a 12-2 run to retake the lead 37-36 with 26.6 seconds remaining. A pair of free throws by Keith Johnson swung the lead back to Libby 38-37 with 20.8 seconds remaining.

But Pirate Colton Graham’s stole the ball from Libby and scored off an assist from Ryker Wenderoth with 12.6 seconds remaining.

Libby still had a chance, but freshman Jarrett Wilson made a steal and scored on a traditional three-point play to seal the win, 42-38.
