Polson Loaves & Fish Pantry: The pantry is full

| January 9, 2020 4:00 AM

This holiday season the city of Polson and surrounding areas have been overwhelmingly generous. The pantry is full, and the Town Pump Matching Fund has been met! We can’t begin to name all the donors of money, food, time, and effort, but we are amazed, and our hearts are touched by your kindnesses.

As we look back over this fall and winter, we thank our regular donors and helpers, you wonderful people who are the backbone of our organization. We could not exist without you.

Thank you, Town Pump, for partnering with the Mission Valley to raise the thousands of dollars it takes to run our pantry, to feed our families, and to help schools and other pantries feed theirs. Thanks to St. Joseph’s Medical Center for contributing food and money in an inspiring donation, and to the Polson High School DECA Club and Mrs. Donahue for getting our shelves and office organized. We also thank and stand in awe of those who rounded up their friends, coworkers, church members, club members, and classmates—from preschool to high school—who brought in tons (literally!) of food in several food drives to keep our local families nourished and sustained over the winter. Pirates Pack the Pantry and the LDS Church made jaw-dropping donations. Our local businesses and service organizations left us in wonder at their cheerful willingness to come into our warehouse on chilly mornings to pack Christmas dinner bags for our pantry families. We thank Appliance Care for refusing to take money to fix a broken appliance, Shy Clark and his family for supporting our effort to find an efficient computer program, our local sheriff and fire departments for their generous donations, all of you with the same last name—Anonymous—who filled our needs quietly and completely, and those whose names I lost track of but whose deeds cannot be forgotten.

You all know who you are. Your families must be so proud of you. We certainly are--proud, humbled, grateful, re-energized, and ready to serve.
