The Polson Pirates reeled off a trio of victories on the week that included a pair of crucial conference wins.

At Stevensville after a close first frame, the visiting Pirates would notch high teens over the next pair of periods to single figure counters by their host to take a twenty point advantage into the final frame. Trevor Lake and Ryker Wenderoth combined for more than two dozen points, while Gunner Grisak reeled in eleven rebounds.

At Ronan for the first round of the annual Rez roundball rivalry wrangle between the NWA country rivals, the visiting Pirates placed a quartet in double figures.

The Pirates used an 8-0 run for a 41-31 advantage before the Chiefs countered with a 6-0 run of their own to pull within four, 41-37.

A deuce ‘and-one’ play by Braunson Henriksen compounded by a technical, coupled by Polson scoring on the ensuing possession, would swing the scoreboard back to a double digit Pirate advantage.

Ronan launched ten shots from the field during the final frame, but could only connect on a pair of them, while Polson closed out the contest from the charity stripe with 9-20 shooting that supplemented Henriksen’s lone Pirate field goal.

Culminating their week on the road at Columbia Falls, the visiting Pirates outscored the host Cats each of the first three frames for a high teen advantage that remained among the teens over the course of the final frame despite erosion from Cat attempts to claw back into contention.

The Pirates return to the road this weekend with contests at Whitefish and Libby.
