Man gets suspended sentence for choking woman
Christopher James Irvine was sentenced on a felony charge of strangulation of partner or family member, to which he had pleaded guilty at an earlier date.
Irvine received a five year suspended sentence in state prison. He received credit for 64 days served. Three other charges were dismissed without prejudice: failure to register as a sex offender, and two counts of bail jumping.
Lake County Prosecutor Molly Owen said that she was unable to contact the victim, which may be intentional on the victim’s part. For that reason, Owen said the plea agreement was the best outcome, rather than a trial.
Judge James Manley warned Irvine to follow all probation requirements, as this was the “last break you’re going to get from me,” noting that original charges carried a potential 10-year sentence.
