Grizzly football meet and greet
Grizzly football coaches and athletic department personnel will hold a meet and greet at MacKenzie River Pizza in Polson on Feb. 5. This year’s event is sponsored by the Mission Mountain Chapter Grizzly Scholarship Association and will start at 2:30 p.m. Coaches should arrive around 3:30 p.m. for a short visit and update on current signings for the upcoming season. MacKenzie River Pizza has donated light snacks and a no-host bar will be provided. For more information call Dick Gallagher at 360-7975.
Fifth Friday dinner
Polson Community Church, located at 1814 First Street East, will host its Fifth Friday Night Dinner on Jan. 31 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Dinner will be heart-warming homemade stew, salad, biscuits and an array of desserts. No offering expected or accepted. Join a wonderful night of good food and friendships.
Crochet sessions
North Lake County Public Library will provide four crochet sessions in February as part of its ongoing fiber arts series.
These sessions will review basic crochet stitches with simple projects like hot pad, headband and cup cozy. Then, using the free digital version of Crochet World magazine found in the FLIPSTER portal on the library website, participants will attempt the “With Love Coaster” (Crochet in the round) found on page 14 of the February issue.
Session dates are February 4, 11, 18 and 25 at 2 p.m. in the library meeting room.
Bring your crochet hook and yarn (cotton recommended). Hooks are also available for $5 in the gift shop. There will also be yarn on hand.
Fundraiser breakfast
A fundraising breakfast will be held to benefit William David Thompson, who is in need of funds for transport and lodging to Seattle for his upcoming gastroparesis surgery. This procedure will enable William to eat and drink, by inserting a pacemaker in his stomach. A silent auction will be held in conjunction with the breakfast, at the Polson VFW (upstairs) at 423 Main Street on Sunday, Feb. 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost for breakfast is $7/plate. Mission Valley Live concert
Mission Valley Live with Jim and Sam showcases two voices in tight harmonies along with one acoustic guitar - their sound is somewhere in the realm of bluegrass, folk, country and rock.
Concert tickets are $15 and available at the door. This is an “off series” concert presented in conjunction with the Flathead Lake International Cinemafest.
Jim and Sam are not only accomplished musicians they are the producers of the film “After So Many Days,” which has been nominated for the Best Documentary Feature in FLIC 2020.
“After So Many Days” will be shown at the Polson Showboat Cinemas at 6 p.m. Friday, January 24. Jim and Sam will be hosting a Q&A following the showing.
