Aspiring hoopsters toe the line for free throw contest
Elks lodges from across the country hold an annual Hoop Shoot free throw contest for ages 8-13 at various venues, divided incrementally into local, district, state, regional and national competition. Winners of each segment qualify to advance to compete at the next level, culminating at a national shootout in mid-April. Northwestern Montana participants held a District competition the second weekend of January up at Polson High School with the winners advancing to State competition to be held on Saturday, February 1 in Livingston. The top two area District winners of that competition are cited below:
