East meets west in postseason tuneup duals
At Lewistown for the Class A Duals, East clashed with West in precursors of several potential postseason matchups. Mission Valley representatives Polson and Ronan competed in separate pools in first day action, the outcomes which would seed their placement the following day. Both would be rerouted into consolation rounds as higher ranked programs advanced into the championship bracket as anticipated.
The Pirates would go 3-0 against second day competition. Ronan took second in all three of their subsequent bouts, but wrestled shoulder to shoulder with strong programs in actual wrestling competition, the spread in point differential traced to forfeits from unfilled weight classes.
Pirates Maysn Cowell, Kedrick Baker, Logan Adler and Hunter Pittsley each racked up five pins over the course of the meet.
Pirates Kellen Norman, Garrett Croft, Braedon Iliff and Ronan Chief Kolby Reum each won three bouts by pin.
Ronan will competed in a mixer with Mission-Charlo and Arlee at St. Ignatius for the host team senior night. On Saturday, both Ronan as well as Polson will competed in double duals with Browning and Stevensville to wrap up the regular schedule.
