Artists invited to apply for Artist Wilderness Connection Program

Professional working artists from various disciplines, media and styles are invited to apply for the Artist Wilderness Connection, an artist-in-residence program where artists stay in remote forest cabins for one to two weeks to make art.

A collaborative project managed by the Flathead National Forest, Hockaday Museum of Art, Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation and Swan Valley Connections, the Artist Wilderness Connection is now in its 17th year. Two artists will be selected to participate in the 2020 program.

The program experience focuses on the Bob Marshall and Great Bear Wilderness Areas, with opportunities for artists to reside in designated wilderness during the months of July, August or September. After completing their residency, artists will select a format to share their talents and backcountry experience with the community and donate a representative piece of their art to the Artist Wilderness Connection Program.

The online application and full program information is available at www.hockadaymuseum.org under Artist Opportunities, Artist-Wilderness-Connection. Applications are due Feb. 25. Individuals and group collaborations are invited to apply. Artists will be notified March 27.
