| January 30, 2020 4:00 AM

Mission Valley Has Talent 2020 is now open for registration, including winners from past years.

Winners had not been allowed to compete the next year, but for the March 13, 2020 event, all are welcome. Also, now a contestant can compete as a solo-act plus be part of one group-act.

Categories are 12 and under, 13-18, 19 and over. First place in each category will win $250, second place $150 and third place $100.

Registration deadline is March 2. Contestants have the option of applying online or printing and mailing the application.

The talent show is held at the Polson High School Auditorium at 7 p.m., Friday, March 13. For the past two years the auditorium rocked with cheers of support for the performers.

Contestants were pianists, vocalists, instrumentalists, spoken-word artists and gymnasts.

The event is a fundraiser for the Helping Hands Fund. The first two events raised more than $10,000 for the ecumenical project.

Since 2004, when Helping Hands Fund was established, the fund supported by local churches, organizations and individuals, has responded to more than 45,000 requests for assistance. Assistance is given in the form of vouchers for food, gas, temporary lodging, clothing, utilities and transportation. The project also helps with short term needs such as personal care bags, hygiene products, household supplies and obtaining vital records.

Newer projects include the Baby Box Project, Backpack Project and the Holiday Giving Project. Referrals are made to other resource service partners to help clients address their long-term

needs and goals.
