Crews work wildfire near Hot Springs

Heavy equipment is believed to have sparked a wildfire that had charred 300 acres near Hot Springs, as of Tuesday.

According to C.T. Camel, fire information officer for the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, the Clear Creek Fire was 10 percent contained as of Tuesday morning. It was burning 1.5 miles north of Perma Bridge along Montana 382.

He said the cause of the fire is under investigation, but was likely started by rock quarry equipment.

Aircraft, a helicopter, six fire engines and a 20-man Type II initial attack crew were on the scene.

No structures were threatened and no evacuations were ordered. People were advised to adhere to road closures and to avoid the area.
