Polson Community Foundation awards $53k in grants
Because of the generosity of local donors a total of $750,625 has been awarded to worthy needs and projects in our community from 2009 through mid 2020.
The Greater Polson Community Foundation recently distributed $53,900 among 18 local non-profit organizations as part of its 2020 grant cycle. The amount distributed represents the annual earnings from the GPCF’s permanent endowment fund. Gifts and contributions from donors have added significantly to the permanent endowment which totals over $600,000. Only the earnings can be used from the permanent endowment. The more this fund grows, the more earnings are available for GPCF’s annual grants.
The 2020 award recipients are: Boys and Girls Club of Flathead Reservation, Mission Valley Animal Shelter, Flathead Lake Biological Station, Miracle of America Museum, SKC STEM Academy, Flathead Lake International Cinemafest, Mission Valley LIVE, Flathead Lakers, Polson Flathead Lake Museum, Mission Valley Aquatics and Fitness, LCCDC Leadership Course, Helping Hands, Polson Loaves & Fish Food Pantry, North Lake County Public Library, Lake County Youth Scholarship Program, Welcome Home, Inc., Women 4 Wellness and Polson School District Special Needs Playground.
Roger Smith, Grant Chairman for the GPCF reports that the 2020 grants will support a wide variety of youth and community-oriented projects including: special needs playground, college opportunities for juniors and seniors, swim lesson scholarships, leadership development programs, spay and neutering program, citizen science programs on the lake, youth sports development, preservation and showcasing of historical data and artifacts, a beautiful film festival as well as a series of musical showcases and educational outreach.
