Ruth (Benson) Mahle, 91

Ruth (Benson) Mahle, 91, passed into eternal rest on February 25, 2020 with her daughter Julie by her side.

Ruth was born on July 4, 1928 to Frieda & Clair Benson, she attended Missoula County High School and graduated from Helena High School. She went on to study Modern Business and was employed by the Forest Service. She married Therin “Bud” Mahle on August 21, 1949.

She and Bud raised Black Angus cows, Llama and sheep. They loved to travel and both were very active in the Republican Party and in the FFA. It was often said that “There wasn’t a stray she wouldn’t take in.” A member of the bridge club, she loved to sew and enjoyed teddy bears. In her later years she found solace in feeding the birds at her home in St. Ignatius. Ruth spent her final years at the Pines of Mission being very well taken care of by the staff who all loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Therin “Bud” Mahle, sister Julie Benson and son in law Darryl Parker.

Survivors include her sister Dolly, daughter Julie Parker of St. Ignatius; son Todd (Natalie) Mahle of Keller, TX; grandchildren Therin Gerrit Mahle, Brinley Reece Mahle, Walker Hayes Mahle of Abilene, TX; step-grandsons Alexander Layten Maxwell of Abeline, TX and Ronald (Anna) Parker of Pablo, MT; nieces Bonnie (Bernie) Kern of Colorado Springs, CO and Kimberly Cameron of Mesa, AZ; and friends of 60 years John & Joanne Brock.\

Service were held Monday at Foster Funeral Home in St. Ignatius and she was laid to rest beside her husband at Pleasantview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Mission Valley Animal Shelter.
