Polson City Hall restricts visitors

The city of Polson made a number of adjustments last week to its operations at City Hall in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

On March 18, the city began restricting all non-essential visits to City Hall and the front door was locked. Visitors allowed into the building through the City Hall side door will have their temperature checked at the door. Anyone with a fever will not be able to enter.

“Our staff is a concern, and the public in general,” Interim City Manager Wade Nash told the City Commission at the March 16 meeting when discussing the possibility of changes in city operations.

Department changes put into effect last week include:

All utility billing payments must be mailed in, put in the city’s drop box or paid online. The city has waived the 3% surcharge for online payments during this time. Anyone with questions can call 883-8200 and press 1.

If you need to get a dog or cat license please call 883-8200 and press 0.

Park Shelter Reservations must be made online through the Parks and Recreation webpage. For additional applications, such as a parks alcohol permit, parks use permit or general information call City Hall.

At city court, all fines are to be paid online or placed in the city’s drop box. Online payments can be made by going to the city court webpage.

The judge will be holding court once per week on Wednesdays from 3 to 6 p.m. Entrance will be through City Hall’s side door.

At the building and Planning Department, most transactions can be handled online or by phone, fax, and mail.

The Water and Sewer Department’s operations are continuing as normal, but interaction with property residents will be kept to a minimum. Essential business at City Hall will require an appointment. Call 883-8200 and press 9 to reach the Water and Sewer Superintendent.

All city parks remain open, but the bathrooms are closed. The city recommends people follow the CDC guidelines for social distancing.

Polson Bay Golf Course is intermittently open. The clubhouse can be reached at 883-8230.

at the Street Department, all operations will continue as normal.

All law enforcement and fire department operations will continue as normal, but the police department has suspended public finger printing service until further notice.

All non-essential board meetings have been canceled until further notice. The City Commission is still scheduled to meet on the first and third Monday of each month and meeting are open to the public at this time.
