Library foundation launches GivingTuesday campaign

| November 22, 2020 7:00 AM

The North Lake County Library Foundation is participating in GivingTuesday to help build a better library.

GivingTuesday (www.givingtuesday.org) is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world. GivingTuesday will kick off the generosity season this year by inspiring people to give back on Tuesday, Dec. 1.

While COVID has limited some activities such as children’s reading programs, movie night and gathering of community groups, life won’t always be like this. Contributions on GivingTuesday will provide funds for some of the library’s basic needs. These include a new technology cart to house laptops, iPads and kindles, allowing them to be charged and ready to go; upgrading the DVD and audiobook shelving, allowing easier browsing; and new, more comfortable computer chairs that can be easily cleaned.

“These are things we can do for our patrons during this time when we are unable to do some of the more fun things, like our programming,” said Abbi Dooley, the library’s director.

This year the North Lake County Library Foundation will match each contribution, dollar for dollar, up to $5,000.
