Mission's Brander lands on class B first team all-state list
Four Mission Valley volleyball players earned class B postseason awards, announced recently. St. Ignatius placed a trio of players among the list of all-conference honorees.
Senior outside hitter Sydney Brander was conferred with first-team recognition. Brander notched a seasonal triple-double as leading spiker among the squad with close to 200 kills while also cresting the century plateau for defensive digs.
Brander recorded more than 500 career kills spanning three seasons. This was her second first-team nod.
Nominated to the second-team were a pair of fellow seniors, libero Ella Arlint and middle Keana Thomas. Arlint led the team with close to 200 digs and was second in aces.
Thomas was the lead blocker at the net while also contributing several dozen kills.
Arlee senior middle Halle Adams was named to the second team. Adams topped the century mark for kills to lead the Scarlet attack at the net while leading the Scarlets in blocks.
Other Scarlet nominees who did not make the postseason honors list, but received votes, were sophomore outside hitter Jerny Crawford, freshman defensive specialist Shonlea Matt and sophomore libero Rheid Crawford.
