| October 6, 2020 4:15 PM

After splitting the first two sets at Stevensville, the visiting Maidens gained a 2-1 advantage after stretching the third set into extras and prevailing. But the visitors couldn't quite repel the persistent Lady Yellowjackets. The Maidens racked up points from behind the service line and at the net with snuff blocks. But Stevensville owned a better than 2-to-1 advantage on offensive productivity at the net with kills. Olivia Clairmont posted a dozen spikes in the contest, while Leina Ulutoa, Rylie Lindquist and Katie Beh had double-digit digs.

At Frenchtown last Monday, the visiting Maidens swept the host Lady Broncs in straight sets. Rylie Lindquist led Ronan both at the net with 10 kills and on defense with 14 digs. Madeline McCrea had eight blocks, five of them solo.

In nonconference action against the Breakers of Loyola Sacred Heart, the hosts faced one of the top teams in Western B and held their own, playing competitively in all three sets. The Bulldogs outhit the Breakers at the net and outdug them on defense, but Loyola held the edge behind the service line and with blocks at the net.

Against Troy this past weekend, the match wenta full five sets before being settled. Scarlets lock down Wardens, fall to Falcons

The Arlee Scarlets were road warriors this past week as they fell to the Lady Falcons of Florence in straight sets, but locked down the Lady Wardens of Deer Lodge. The team had their most productive outing of the season on offense against Deer Lodge as their net attack netted more than two dozen spikes, with Halle Adams leading the way with 10 and Jerney Crawford along with Raven Parson combining for another 11. Sisters Rheid Crawford and Jerny combined for almost four dozen digs, while Xaria Jacobson and Shonlea Matt collaborated on nearly two dozen on defense.

The Scarlets are back on the road again this week as they take on the Vals of Bigfork on Thursday, then travel to the Snake Pit in Anaconda to tangle with the Lady Copperheads on Saturday.

Lady Vikings sweep Heat, Prospectors

The Lady Vikings of Charlo found the road a bit bumpy this past week, but nonetheless racked up another pair of victories to maintain their unblemished record. Charlo may have swept Hot Springs in straight sets, but they had to weather some heat along the way from the Lady Savage Heat as the third set stretched into extras before the Lady Vikings gained an edge to end the match, 29-27. Kassidi Cox and Carlee Fryberger collaborated on 17 kills to offset Hot Springs at the net. The dynamic duo also rocked the service line when they combined for ten aces.

At P-burg, the host Lady Prospectors evened the match at one apiece after they squared things up by mining the second set. But thereafter, the visiting Lady Vikings finished with a flourish as Kass and Carlee collaborated on 20 kills. Charlo also sizzled at the service line, where they served more than two dozen aces.

Charlo will have already held a conference clash with Noxon this past Tuesday, then will host the Lady Bluehawks of T-Falls on Thursday for homecoming.
