Grant award appreciated

| September 4, 2020 10:36 AM

On behalf of the teachers and families of special-needs preschoolers here in Polson, a big “thank you!" to the Greater Polson Community Foundation for its recent grant. This foundation continues to annually assist so many local organizations and nonprofits in the community.

Specifically, the GPCF has contributed to fundraising efforts toward the construction of a special-needs playground at Cherry Valley Elementary School. Children who may be on the autism spectrum, physically challenged, in wheelchairs or have other challenges that make it difficult or impossible for them to use traditional playgrounds will safely enjoy the use of this inclusive playground, which will be the first of its kind in the valley.

Donations and grants contributing to this fundraising effort have been received from the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation, Burke Family Foundation, Headwaters MT, Appleseed Foundation, Donna Jean Rolfson Trust, Whitefish Credit Union, Brondum Special Assistance Foundation, Savoir Faire Properties and many others. We thank you all for your contributions and in recognizing this community need. If readers would like to contribute to this worthwhile venture, please call 249-6368 for information on our project.

Thank you.

— Tim Berg, Director of Special Services, Polson School District #23
