Locals locked and loaded for links at Libby
On the links at Libby, local area golfers fared quite well over the weekend. The Ronan Maiden girls captured the team title by a narrow two stroke edge over the Whitefish Lady Bulldogs. Polson Lady Pirate Ellie Thiel took individual medalist honors, but Ronan's Macao Jackson turned in a strong second place finish with an 89. Fellow Maidens Kylee Niemeyer and Alyssa PrettyOnTop squeezed onto the top ten grid by posting scores just a scratch over the century mark.
On the boys side of the spectrum, Whitefish took both team and individual medalist honors, much as they have consistently done over the course of this season thus far. Among local area golfers, Ruben Couture of Ronan tied for third to lead the Chiefs fourth place team finish, while Hunter Emerson and Carson Hupka tied for sixth to spearhead a Polson Pirate second place team finish with Torrin Ellis rounding out the top ten.
Polson was originally slated to host the Polson Invitational at the Polson Bay Golf Course on Monday, but poor air quality on account of lingering wildfire smoke from the West Coast cancelled the event for the time being. Other scheduled events may be likewise affected.
