New Life Church of Polson recently delivered more than 720 backpacks filled with a back-to-school starter kit to students at Linderman and Cherry Valley elementary schools.

In addition to the backpacks, each student received a travel-sized hand sanitizer and a few masks to help them get back to school.

The church was forced to cancel its annual Downtown Day of Hope this summer due to COVID-19 concerns.

"We knew that with the cancellation of Day of Hope, we still needed to do something. We noticed that there were no other school supply drives going on because everyone was focused on COVID-19 concerns, so we chose to act,” said Jason Burrough, New Life pastor.

Some of the funds that were used to purchase these school supplies were from a special account New Life Church decided to implement at the onset of COVID-19. The account was set up by the church to help businesses and the community endure some of the financial hardships.
