At Libby, the visiting Pirates were able to implement some precision passing on the pitch as they scored a half dozen goals in a shutout victory over the host Loggers. Junior forward Kaden Nelson had a hat trick, while frosh brother Ashten Nelson opened the second-half scoring with his first varsity goal.

The Pirates also got help from Anthony Lichtenberg and Elijah Taylor, who supplied bookend goals to Kaden's third tally.

A quintet of assists were delivered with precision from Cade Lanier, Landon Becker, Taylor, Keith Erickson and Zevan Walker.

The cancelled game against Columbia Falls has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 29. Polson will have already faced two-time defending state A champion Whitefish this past Tuesday, then travel to Bigfork for a battle of the bays brawl against the Vikings on Thursday.

Lady Pirates find their groove

At Libby, the visiting Lady Pirates were finally able to gain some traction for an offense that had been bogged down over the course of their preceding engagements against nonconference Bitterroot teams.

Junior forward Sophia Moderie opened the scoring off an assist from Myranda Heiser, quickly followed by another goal by senior forward Kyla Heiser off an assist from Scout Wenzel.

As the first half drew to a close, sophomore mid Tia Mercer found the net off a Moderie dish for her first varsity goal.

Senior forward Autumn Burland extended the Polson lead to 4-0 with an early second-half goal before the Libby Lady Loggers countered with a pair within 10 minutes to cut the lead in half, 4-2.

Senior mid Lilly Armstrong added an insurance goal midway through the second half off a feed from Mercer. The Lady Pirates closed out the scoring with a quintessential sister act when Kyla Heiser connected on a feed from frosh sister Myranda.

The Lady Pirates originally had been scheduled to host Columbia Falls, but poor air quality due to wildfire smoke forced that game to be rescheduled to Tuesday. Polson will have already faced Whitefish at home this past Tuesday, then travel to Bigfork for a battle of the bays against the Valkyries on Thursday, Sept. 24.
