Western C 8-Man Roundup: Vikings, Warriors pick up big road wins

At Troy, the visiting Vikings unleashed the brunt of their Nordic invasion during first-half action with five touchdowns, capped by a sack in the end zone by Dawson DuMont for a safety. Everything thereafter was gravy, with Charlo floating along in the boat.

The host Trojans may have misunderstood the visiting Vikings’ intentions about spreading the "love" around, perhaps thinking that the contest would be of a more friendly-like nature. What Charlo head grid coach Reese Cox and his Viking gridders meant was spreading THE “Love" around, as in reference to Tucker Love, who accounted for half the scoring when he returned a punt for pay dirt, reeled in a pass for six, rushed for two scores and threw in a conversion run for good measure.

The Vikings host the top-5 Flint Creek Titans, a co-op of Drummond and Philipsburg, this Friday in a battle of the unbeatens. Containment of MSU-bound Kade Cutler will be a priority focus of preparations.

Warriors emerge victors, Pirates walk plank

At Victor, the visiting Warrior from Arlee and the host Pirates of Victor engaged in a see-saw, back-and-forth battle through much of the first half before Arlee managed to break the stalemate on a 14-yard reception by Jace Arca from Noah Coulson that would stake the visitors with the lead just before intermission.

The Pirates had tied the game at a dozen apiece when defensive lineman Darvin Thomason pounced on the ball in the end zone. It was ruled a fumble after a sack by Pirate defensive end Canyon Parks of Warrior quarterback Coulson, who had been in the act of passing.

Thereafter, Victor was plagued by containment breaches by the clobbering Crawfords. Charley Crawford caught his second touchdown reception of the contest, while Colt Crawford closed out the scoring with a short yardage plunge after a humongous 70-yard setup rumble.

The Warriors host the top-5 Thompson Falls Bluehawks for their homecoming game Friday night.
