Crews contain 316-acre brush fire west of Dixon
The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes Division of Fire on Friday afternoon announced a wildfire burning along the Flathead River 5 miles west of Dixon had been completely contained.
The Sinkhole Fire covered 316 acres and was burning thick brush. Officials believe it was sparked by nearby railroad work. It was first reported Wednesday afternoon. Twenty-five responders were on scene Wednesday, along with five fire engines and a bulldozer.
No structures were threatened and no evacuations were ordered. All nearby roads were open by Thursday afternoon.
