Municipal candidate filing period opens April 22

The filing period for municipal positions in Polson, Ronan and St. Ignatius that are up for election Nov. 2 opens Thursday, April 22 and runs through June 21.

In Polson, terms are ending Dec. 31 for Mayor Paul Briney, Ward 1 Polson City Commissioner Lou Marchello, Ward 2 Commissioner Patricia Corrigan-Ekness and Ward 3 Commissioner Brodie Moll.

Ronan Mayor Kim Aipperspach’s term is also up for election, as are the City Council seats of Marilynn Tanner in Ward 1, Chris Adler in Ward 2 and Marlene Melton in Ward 3. City Judge Randy Melton’s term also expires at the end of the year.

In St. Ignatius, Mayor Steve McCollum’s term is expiring. The town also has two openings for at-large city commissioner, and City Judge Sharon Richardson’s term ends this year as well.

Potential candidates should contact the Lake County Elections office for details on eligibility, filing fees and registration.
