Ronan Police Chief Kenneth Weaver announced last month that he intends to retire after 36 years in law enforcement. He has served the past six years as chief of police for Ronan.

In a heartfelt post on the Ronan Police Department Facebook page, Weaver credited Mayor Kim Aipperspach for his leadership helping develop a high level of professionalism in the department. He thanked the City Council, department heads and staff for their support and assistance, other cooperating law enforcement agencies and staff, and the Ronan community.

“I wish to thank the citizens of this community for their partnership with the Ronan Police Department, which did result in the City of Ronan becoming a better place to live, work, visit and conduct business,” Weaver said in the statement.

Weaver’s retirement date is not yet set, as he is not done contributing to his department and community.

“I promised the city that I would stay on board until we hire the next chief of police, and he or she is trained adequately enough to be able to carry on,” Weaver said.
